The present invention provides a spherical graphitic cast iron having high rigidity due to a higher Young's modulus, as well as excellent strength and toughness. This high-rigidity spherical graphitic cast iron contains, in mass%, C: more than 3.0% but less than 3.6%, Si: 1.5-3.0%, Mn: 1.0% or less, Cu: 1.0% or less, P: less than 0.03%, and Mg: 0.02-0.07%, the remainder comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities. The carbon equivalent (CE value) calculated from the C and Si content using equation (1): CE = C% + Si%/3 is CE: 3.6-4.2%, the Young's modulus is 170 GPa or greater, the tensile strength is 550 MPa or greater, and the impact value is 12 J/cm2 or greater. |
