A vehicle door latch device has latch shaft and a back plate. The back plate has a rear-side second shaft hole forming portion that forms a rear-side second shaft hole, into which a second shaft portion, which is formed at another end portion of a pawl, is inserted rotatably, and a threaded hole forming portion, which is disposed near the rear side second shaft hole forming portion, and which forms a single threaded hole into which a single bolt is screwed. The back plate is shaped so as not to extend to portions corresponding to positions of other bolts. |
