摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface emitting laser that has small wavelength dependency of light output intensity or threshold current value.SOLUTION: There is provided a surface emitting layer which has a lower reflector 110, an active layer 104, a gap part 107, and an upper reflector 130 in this order, and varies the wavelength of light to be emitted by varying the distance between the lower reflector 110 and upper reflector 130. The surface emitting layer has a drive part 140 which displaces one of the lower reflector 110 and upper reflector 130 in the direction of the optical axis of the light to be emitted, and is so configured that &lambda;<&lambda;<&lambda;or &lambda;<&lambda;<&lambda;holds for a wavelength &lambda;when the gain of the active layer 104 in laser oscillation becomes maximum, a center wavelength &lambda;of the light to be emitted, and a wavelength &lambda;when the reflectivity of the reflector on the side where the light is emitted becomes maximum.
