PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of favorably collecting sound generated when a jam occurs concerning two or more kinds of jams.SOLUTION: An image reader 100 includes: separating parts 111, 112; an image reading part 119 for reading an image from a document; transport parts 116, 117 for transporting a document separated by the separating parts to the image reading part; transport passage side walls 130a, 130b provided on the end side of the document transported from the separating parts to the image reading part; sound signal output parts 141a, 141b provided with a sound collection part between the separating parts and the transport part and disposed in the vicinity of the transport passage side walls for outputting a sound signal corresponding to sound generated in the process of transporting the document; and a jam determination part 153 for determining whether or not a jam occurs on the basis of the sound signal. |
