PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper alloy material having high strength and high conductivity. SOLUTION: The copper alloy material is obtained through: a casting step where an ingot having a composition comprising, by mass, 1.5 to 3.0% Ni, 0.3 to 1.5% Si and 0.01 to 0.3% Zr, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities, wherein the ratio of the Ni content to the Si content is 2 to 5; a hot working step where the ingot is subjected to hot extrusion or hot forging at a hot working temperature satisfying the hot working temperature(°C)≥870+the Ni content (mass%)×10 to thereby obtain a hot worked material; a rapid cooling step where the hot worked material is cooled to≤300°C at a cooling rate of≥100°C/s to thereby obtain a rapidly cooled material; and an aging step where the rapidly cooled material is heated at a temperature lower than the hot working temperature, and is subjected to aging to thereby obtain a copper alloy material.
