摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave distance measuring instrument capable of scanning a wide area at a high speed. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic wave distance measuring instrument includes: a scanning unit 10 that scans a laser light LT on a target T; a control unit 3 that controls the intensity and the transmission timing of the laser light LT, and the scanning by the scanning unit 10; a receiving unit 4 that receives a reflected laser light LR from the target T; and a distance determining unit 7 that determines the distance to the target T on the basis of the time gap between the laser light LT and the reflected laser light LR, wherein the scanning unit 10 includes a scanning means 11 consisting of a photonic crystal capable of passing the transmitting laser light LT and altering the direction of the transmitting laser light LT by changing a refractive index by high voltage load, and a scanning voltage generator 12 that scans the laser light LT by changing the refractive index by outputting high voltage sine wave to the scanning means 11, and the outgoing transmission pathway in the scanning means 11 of the transmitting laser light LT and the returning transmission pathway in the scanning means 11 of the transmitting laser light LT are matched.
