PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint enabling the improved sealability of the inside of an outer ring, the improved workability during the assembly of the constant velocity joint, and the improved machinability of the outer ring. SOLUTION: A stepped part 14 composed of a cylindrical part 14a extending in the axial direction, a locking part 14c extending in the radial direction, and an R part 14b for connecting the cylindrical part 14a to the locking part 14b is formed on an inner circumferential surface 2c of one opening end 2b of an outer ring 2. One opening part 9 of the outer ring 2 is closed by a bottomed cylindrical seal plate 8 comprising a cylindrical part 8a with an outer circumferential surface 8c fitted to an inner circumferential surface 2c of the one opening end 2b of the outer ring 2, and a bottom part 8b integrally formed to close an opening part on a counter-joint inner part side of the cylindrical part 8a. Further, in the cylindrical part 8a, a part opposite to the stepped part 14 of the outer ring 2 forms a tapered part 13, and an annular O-ring 11 is interposed as a seal member between the tapered part 13 and the stepped part 14.
