The device has a pressure supply device (11) for supplying a gaseous processing medium i.e. cooling air, to a nozzle plate (40) that comprises a set of nozzle openings for delivering the medium to a processing position (10) of an object (21) to be processed. The processing position is arranged upstream to the nozzle plate. A cross-section of the nozzle openings varies for each unit area over an extension area of the nozzle openings such that a concentration area (42) comprising the nozzle openings is formed for supplying increased volume of the medium to each unit area.
