A transmission method executed by a transmission system including a first transmission device, a second transmission device, a first communication line and a second communication line, the first communication line and the second communication line are provided between the first transmission device and the second transmission device, the transmission method comprising: notifying, by the first transmission device, a number of packets transmitted from the first transmission device to the second transmission device via the first communication line, of the second transmission device at a predetermined interval; storing the number of the transmitted packets in association with the second communication line; notifying, by the second transmission device, a number of packets received from the first transmission device via the first communication line, of the first transmission device at a predetermined interval; storing the number of the received packets in association with the second communication line; and when an operation system is switched from the first communication line to the second communication line, initiating, by the first transmission device, counting of a number of packets transmitted from the first transmission device to the second transmission device via the second communication line using the number of transmitted packets stored in association with the second communication line set as an initial value; andinitiating, by the second transmission device, counting of a number of packets received from the first transmission device via the second communication line using the number of received packets stored in association with the second communication line set as an initial value.
