The method involves connecting a voltage meter (15) with a voltage source or lithium-ion-battery cell (5) by electrical lines (20,25), and connecting a variable resistor (27) parallel to the voltage meter on two reference resistors (R1). One of the electrical lines is checked between the voltage source and the voltage meter by sequential voltage measurements at observed reference resistance of the variable resistor. The variable resistor is attached at one or the both electrical lines. An independent claim is included for a method for charging a chargeable voltage source.
