PURPOSE: A system and a method for storing medical images are provided to effectively search and manage image data by extracting image data from a digital camera and storing the extract image data in a database. CONSTITUTION: A medical image storing system includes an X-ray photographing unit(101), a film development unit(103), an image converting unit(105), a control panel(107), an image processing unit(109), a controller(111), and a storing medium(113). The image converting unit(105) includes a digital camera. The controller(111) is connected to the image converting unit(105) so as to receive digital image data from the image converting unit(105). The storing medium(113) is a memory device, such as a compact disc or a CD-ROM.
