<p>The method involves generating an excitation signal (18) for analyzing measuring objects (2), which are linked to a network analyzer (1). A reference signal (24) corresponding to the signal (18) is decoupled from the reference path (28), and a reference signal level is determined. A measuring signal (32) is decoupled from a measuring path (36) and a measuring signal level is determined. The measuring signal level and/or the reference signal level is increased or decreased, when the measuring signal level and/or the reference signal level exceeds or falls below specific limits, respectively.
