PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rotary electric machine capable of securing insulation performance necessary for coil end portions by forming a gap between the coil end portions and capable of effectively cooling the coil end portions by allowing a cooling medium to pass through the gap between the coil end portions.SOLUTION: An armature winding includes a plurality of distributively wound winding bodies 21 respectively manufactured by winding around one conductor wire 19 insulatively coated, continued without including any connection portion and having a fixed cross section orthogonal to a length direction. The conductor wire 19 includes first to fourth straight portions 21a, 21b, 21c, 21d and first to third coil end portions 21e, 21f, 21g respectively connecting between the first to fourth straight portions 21a, 21b, 21c, 21d and is formed so that a radial width w' of the first to fourth straight portions 21a, 21b, 21c, 21d is wider than a radial width w of the first to third coil end portions 21e, 21f, 21g, and a gap 50 is formed between the coil end portions adjacent in a radial direction to allow the cooling medium to pass through the gap 50. |
