PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for a heavy load enabling the compatibility of uniformity and anti-vulcanization failure performance even if a circumferential reinforcement layer is formed on a crown. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic radial tire for the heavy load, belt layers 7a, 7b are formed at the outer peripheral side of a carcass layer 4 on the crown 1. A steel cord C having 1×N twisting structure in which N (N=3-8) number of bare wires are twisted, having a flat cross section shape making the width direction of the belt layers 7a, 7b as a long diameter and applied with the peculiarity attachment of a zig-zag shape in which a ratio of an amplitude W relative to the long diameter D1 is 1.5-3.0 and a wavelength L becomes 20-50 mm is substantially wound at 0°relative to a tire circumferential direction along the belt layers 7a, 7b to form the circumferential reinforcement layer 8 on the crown part 1.
