PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material testing machine capable of improving energy efficiency of a hydraulic pressure source and reducing power consumption.SOLUTION: A hydraulic pressure source 30 includes an oil tank 36 for storing therein hydraulic oil; a hydraulic pump 33; a motor 34 for driving this hydraulic pump 33; and an inverter 35 for changing the number of revolutions of this motor 34. A duct 57 for vacuuming the hydraulic oil from the oil tank 36 by operation of the hydraulic pump 33 is branched off into a supply duct 37 for supplying the hydraulic oil to a hydraulic cylinder 21 and an escape duct 58 for escaping excessive hydraulic oil to the oil tank 36. A pressure regulation mechanism 51 and a flowmeter 56 for measuring a flow volume of the hydraulic oil flowing in the escape duct 58 are provided in the escape duct 58. The inverter 35 changes the number of revolutions of the motor 34 to a minimum required number of revolutions on the basis of a measurement value of the flowmeter 56. |
