PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which shows excellent liquid diffusion properties in a width direction of a protrusion part of an absorbent core, easily retains a liquid in high density parts on both sides of the protrusion part, and is excellent in absorption performance and leakage prevention performance.SOLUTION: An absorbent article is provided with an absorbent core 4 with a shape that is long in a front-back direction of the absorbent article. The absorbent core 4 has a central area 41 and lateral areas 45, 45 on both sides of the central area in the width direction, and the central area 41 has a protrusion part 5 protruding upward with respect to the respective upper surfaces of the lateral areas. The absorbent core 4 has the central area 41 and the lateral areas 45 that are integrally molded and has high density parts 41a with density that is higher than that of the protrusion part 5 and basis weight that is higher than that of the lateral areas 45 on both side parts of the central area 41. A vertical groove 50 that is formed by reducing the basis weight of a material for forming the absorbent core and has a bottom part 50b on a non-skin contact surface side is formed in a longitudinal direction on a skin contact surface of the protrusion part 5, and the bottom part 50b has a length that is shorter in a width direction than that of an opening part 50a in the vertical groove 50. |
