Provided are a method for detecting an abnormal state of a pig and a device therefor, whereby an abnormal state of a pig can be surely detected. A vertical movement frequency of the neck of a subject pig 8 is measured for a preset period of time. When the deviation between the measured vertical movement frequency and the vertical movement frequency in a normal state is equal to or higher than a preset level, the subject pig 8 is determined as being in an abnormal state.
