PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for coating teeth, instantly curing in the oral cavity, providing a coating film of small thickness having antimicrobial activity itself. SOLUTION: This coating composition is obtained by dissolving 10-100 pts.wt. of a shellac in 100 pts.wt. of >=50% ethyl alcohol solution to give a solution of shellac in alcohol and dissolving one or two of 0.001-30 pts.wt. of a basic amino acid and 0.001-30 pts.wt. of a pH adjuster in the solution and can provide a surface having lost tack immediately after curing and showing a lubricant sensation.
