A profiled bar for securement to the top of an opening, including a first internal longitudinal cavity to accommodate a raising mechanism for adjusting an attached covering for the opening, at least one opening into the cavity to accommodate at least one control cord which may be connected to the lower edge of the covering, and at least one second longitudinal cavity having a constricted opening along one edge of the bar of a size to accept one edge of the covering and which will prevent passage through the constriction.
