A pneumatic tire is provided with: at least one circumferential narrow groove formed in each of the portions of the treading surface of the tread, which are located on both sides of the equatorial plane S of the tire, the at least one circumferential narrow groove extending continuously circumferentially and having facing side walls coming into contact with each other when the tire comes into contact with the ground; and a plurality of lug grooves formed in the treading surface of the tread so as to be circumferentially separated from each other and so as to extend from the opposite ends of the tread toward the equatorial plane S of the tire. The circumferential narrow grooves are the only circumferentially extending grooves formed in the treading surface of the tread. The inner ends of the lug grooves in the widthwise direction are open to and terminated at the outer circumferential narrow grooves which are closest to the opposite ends of the tread among the circumferential narrow grooves. |
