A versatile knife sharpening tool has an array of small grind stones (2) fitted onto a support plate (1) via an elastic bonding layer (1). This allows the separate grind stones to flex as the blade is drawn over the stones with the cutting edge trailing. The blade can be sharpened at any convenient angle and with good efficiency.
