The device has a temperature-dependent bimetallic switch (1) with which the supply to the compact fluorescent lamp is interrupted. Alternatively, the supply to the CFL lamp is interrupted by a suitable load switch operated by a temperature sensor with suitable evaluation. The signal lamp used to indicate the excessive temperature is simultaneously used as emergency lighting.
