The support structure has a capstone (18) which is arranged between the bearing blocks (10,12). The capstone has outer faces whose respective horizontally extending steps (18s1,18s2) rest on corresponding horizontally extending steps (10s,12s) of inner surfaces (10i, 12i) of the corresponding bearing blocks. The bearing blocks and the capstone are configured and dimensioned together to form an integral bridge-like support structure. The support structure is self-supporting, if the outer bearing blocks lie partially on corresponding supports (P).
