PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polymeric containers having further improved pressure compensating bases.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a plastic container (1) having a sidewall (2) defining a chamber and having an opening (6) into the chamber at one end; and a base extending from the sidewall and closing a second end. The base comprises: an outer periphery portion defining a support structure; a periphery wall (29) spaced radially inwardly from the support structure, forming an angle with a plane normal to an axis of the container of greater than about 80°, and axially inwardly extending; and a bending pressure compensation panel (28 and 128) closing an end of the periphery wall. The bending panel is moveable along an axis of the container so as to change volume of the container. |
