PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fault tolerance of a ring network.SOLUTION: A data transfer unit system belonging to a ring network system includes a plurality of data transfer units which include a first data transfer unit and a second data transfer unit connected to the first data transfer unit. The first data transfer unit has a first ring port and the second data transfer unit has a second ring port. The first data transfer unit controls enabling or disabling of data transfer of the first ring port and the second ring port based on a state of the network system, attribute of the first data transfer unit in the data transfer unit system and attribute of the data transfer unit system in the network system.
