PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image blur correction unit capable of minimizing vector detection error and accurately computing angular velocity of an object.SOLUTION: Provided is an image blur correction unit having capability to correct image blur using optical correction means constituting an image capturing optical system. The image blur correction unit computes angular velocity of an object on the basis of detected panning velocity and a motion vector of the object between detected frames. The image blur correction unit also computes an average value of the angular velocity of the object over multiple frames. The image blur correction unit then controls driving of a shift lens group 104 on the basis of the computed average value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
