PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method of configuring a process control system for developing a process control strategy in a computer system.SOLUTION: The method includes: providing a module template 154, 156, 158 having a first plurality of components and associated with a control operation; receiving a selection of one or more of the first plurality of components of the module template; generating an instance 160, 162 of a module on the basis of the module template, including instantiating only the selected one or more of the first plurality of components; and associating the generated instance of the module with the process control strategy.
