PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive on a load at high speed, and stabilize the on operation by suppressing a transient response of a rise even when changing an output current to the load or when the output current fluctuates.SOLUTION: A load drive device 1 includes: a power conversion circuit 2 for converting power supplied from a DC power supply Vd and supply DC power to a load 30; an output current detection circuit 5 for detecting an output current Io flowing through the load 30; and a control circuit section 4 for selecting whether or not to operate the load 30 according to an external pulse signal Po input from without, and performing constant current control on the power conversion circuit 2 on the basis of a target current command St during an operative period of the load 30. When starting the constant current control, the control circuit section 4 outputs to the power conversion circuit 2 a first pulse signal that is an average of on duty over a long period within the operative period of the load 30 or a second pulse signal that is an average of on duty over a short period shorter than the long period in accordance with a change in the output current or a fluctuation in the output current. |
