PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a function to display a focus state capable of displaying the focus state in an appropriate image area that conforms to the condition of a subject.SOLUTION: Display control means pertaining to the present invention exercises control so that a second display indicating an index based on a focus state detected in a focus detection area is displayed in superposition on an image along with a first display indicating an area that corresponds to the focus detection area. Area setting means sets the focus detection area in a predetermined area when information about a prescribed subject is not acquired, and sets the focus detection area within the area of the prescribed subject when information about the prescribed subject is acquired. When a prescribed operation is performed via an operation member, the area setting means changes the position of the focus detection area by a different method depending on the acquisition state of information about the prescribed subject.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
