METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADJUSTING PICTURE QUALITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for constantly and automatically adjusting picture quality such as the luminance and contrast of a display apparatus to optimal values on a position where a user exists without the need for a user of the image display apparatus to carry a signal transmitter or the like.

SOLUTION: An operation part 102 detects a position where the user exists from data obtained by a human position detection means 101. The operation part 102 calculates new luminance and contrast values on the basis of the detected positional information, the base values of the luminance and contrast included in a table stored in a set value storage means 103 and correction values and transfers the calculated values to a display control part 104. The display control part 104 sets the instructed values in a display means 105.
