<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate insertion of a shaft inserting with obtaining necessary sealing properties, and effectively prevent static leakage and intrusion of foreign matters in screw seal, in a sealing device having a flat annular seal lip. <P>SOLUTION: The screw seals 8 and 9 are provided in one face 7c and the other face 7d of the seal lip 7 in the axial direction, respectively. The one face side screw seal 8 installed in the one face 7c is provided with a helix in the direction to exert the screw pumping action from one face side to the other face side when the surface 7c is slidably brought into close contact with a counterpart member, and the other face side screw seal 9 installed in the other face is provided with a helix to exert the screw pumping action from the one face side to the other face side in the same manner as the one face side screw seal 8 when the face 7d is slidably brought into close contact with the counterpart member by bending in a cylindrical shape.
