<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a field coil 8 with little deformation and a large space factor in an edge-wise wound coil wound with a straight-angled wire 10, and to provide a manufacturing apparatus with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing apparatus of the field coil 8 is used which is composed of a core 2 to wound with the straight-angled wire 10, a first driver 4 for enabling the core 2 to rotate, a guide 55 for guiding the wire 10 to be wound, a second driver 5 for pressing the guide 55 against the core 2, a third driver 6 for making the core 2 movable in its axial direction, and a base 7 for movably supporting the first to third drivers 4-6. The guide 55 is structured to guide three faces of the straight-angled wire 10 set in a gap with a guide size slightly larger than the wire 10. The guide 55 comes into contact with the core 2. The core 2 in turn takes up the wire 10 while moving in its axial direction at a predetermined pitch to form the coil to be spiral. Thus, the high performance field coil 8 can be provided having little deformation and distortion, and a large space factor in tight contact with a yoke. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
