A warming system includes a thermal battery for storing energy and warming an item. The thermal battery includes a porous, electrically-conductive material and a phase-change substance. The phase change substance is interspersed in a plurality of pores in the porous, electrically conductive materially. The warming system includes a first and second compartment. The first compartment is for receiving an item to be warmed, and the second compartment is for retaining the thermal battery therein.
