PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly improve the charging/discharging capacity of an electric double-layer capacitor, a redox capacitor, a lithium ion electrolytic capacitor, a lithium ion secondary battery or these application device, without impairing the output property, charging/discharging efficiency and cycle life thereof. SOLUTION: This energy storage device includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and electrolytic solution. The electric solution contains at least 0.5-50 wt.% one selected from N,N'-diphenylbenzidine or its derivative for allowing doping/dedoping reaction, N,N'-diphenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine derivative, a pi conjugated conductor compound having carbon skeletons with three to six benzene rings condensed, and polyaniline derivative having a number average molecular weight of 500-5,000.
