PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reduction of charge transfer efficiency, as much as possible, even if the vertical transfer term is shortened. SOLUTION: During a vertical transfer term, four kinds of pulse signals V1-V4 of a vertical transfer signal determined for each electrode are supplied to each of a plurality of electrodes, disposed on a vertical transfer path and during a horizontal transfer term, and two kinds of pulse signals H1, H2 of a horizontal transfer signal determined for each electrode are supplied to each of a plurality of electrodes, disposed on a horizontal transfer path. During the horizontal transfer period, the pulse signal H1 alternately repeats level Ha and level Hb.
