METHODS FOR IMPROVING COGNITIVE FUNCTION AND DECREASING HEART RATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for improving the cognitive function in subjects having age related cognitive decline or mild cognitive impairment and methods for reducing the heart rate of subjects by administering dosage forms comprising docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) substantially free of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).SOLUTION: A method of treating age related cognitive decline (ARCD) or mild cognitive impairment (MCI) comprises administering to a subject in need thereof about 0.8 g to about 4 g of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) per day in a dosage form substantially free of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and substantially free of arachidonic acid (ARA).
