The present invention relates to a high strength steel wire, and a manufacturing method thereof. More specifically, the steel wire comprises: carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), and unavoidable impurities. The high strength steel wire has 17 at% or less of carbon content in a pearlite phase of the steel wire. The high strength steel wire has increased tensile strength after a drawing process by promoting decomposition of cementite in pearlite during the drawing process. |
