The wheelchair has a seat, a leaning area, and a stairs climbing unit like crawler (5). The unit has a frame (6) or is integrated in another frame (1) of the wheelchair, and a lever (7) rotatably fixed at the frame of the unit or the wheelchair. A rotating axle of the lever runs approximately parallel to a seat rear edge (4), and a longitudinal axle of the lever is perpendicular to the rotating axle. The lever is driven with respect to the frame of the unit and is rotatable about 360 degrees. The rotating axle of the lever has a distance between 15 and 25 centimeters, from the rear edge.
