<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the accuracy of detecting other vehicles by an in-vehicle image pickup device. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 601 comprises an input unit 602 for receiving an image pickup signal from a camera 607, an exposure timing determination unit 604 for determining the exposure timing of the camera 607 according to an object to be detected, an output unit 605 which outputs a signal of exposing the camera 607 to the camera 607 according to the exposure timing and outputs a signal of varying the state of an illumination system installed on a vehicle to an illumination control device 606 according to the exposure timing, and an image analysis unit 603 which analyzes the image pickup signal from the camera 607 picked up according to the exposure timing and outputs the result of analysis to other control device 608 via the output unit 605. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
