A method for identifying the expression or activity of a protein particularly a nuclear protein in a cell, the method comprising at least one processor for analyzing multiple images of one or more labelled genetic entities; determining from said analysis, a motile property of said one or more labelled genetic entities; and identifying an expression or activity of a nuclear protein of said cell associated with said motile property. Also claimed are a computer program for performing the method and systems comprising the processor a microscope and/or a camera for performing the method. The method may be applied to measuring the expression, activity, depletion or concentration of a nuclear protein such as Lamin A/C by comparing Lmna-/- cells with Lmna+/+ cells and determining diffusion behaviour from the labelled nuclear proteins mean square displace with time. |
