An apparatus (1) for processing a fabric (6) by repeated brushing on itself, comprises a process tumbler (11), provided with a feed duct (2) for feeding the fabric (6) in open- width form continuously between an infeed port (12i) and an outfeed port (12u) of the duct (2); and an adjustment device (13) for adjusting the passage section of the duct (2) and associated with at least one of the ports thereof (12i,12u). The adjustment device (13) causes the passage section to be narrowed in such a way that the fabric (6), which reaches the port (12i,12u) in open-width form and is made to pass through the port (12i, 12u) in a first feed direction (7), is bunched into rope form and then allows the fabric (6), when it is made to pass in the opposite direction through the narrowed passage section, where the fabric (6) is subtended by the other, wide port (12i) of the duct (2), to be stretched out from the rope form to the open-width form again. |
