Provided is a straddle-type vehicle that is equipped with a gear position sensor abnormality detection device with which detection performance for detecting an abnormality in the gear position sensor can be increased. According to the present invention, an ECU (90) which is a gear position sensor abnormality detection device has a gear position estimation unit (93) and a sensor abnormality detection unit (94). The gear position estimation unit (93) estimates the gear position of a transmission from a gear ratio estimated on the basis of an engine rotational speed sensor (71) signal and a vehicle speed sensor (16) signal. The engine rotational speed sensor (71) and the vehicle speed sensor (16) are non-contact sensors. A gear position sensor abnormality determination unit (95) of the sensor abnormality detection unit (94) determines the presence/absence of an abnormality in a gear position sensor (77) by comparing the gear position estimated by the gear position estimation unit (93) and the gear position detected by the gear position sensor (77).
