<p>A patient transfer system (1300) is provided which enables a single operator to transfer a patient from a first horizontal surface (2304) to a second horizontal surface (2308). The transfer is accomplished with minimal risk of injury to the operator and patient. The patient transfer system includes a transfer caddy (1302), transfer bridge (1304) and transfer rod (1306). The transfer caddy (1302) is mobile and contains means (1608, 1738) for storing the transfer bridge (1304) and transfer rod (1306). The transfer bridge (1304) and transfer rod (1306) are foldable for storage and transport.</p> |
