The method involves extracting data from an input-document data stream according to a preset rule set, and storing the data in a structured data file. Field names are assigned to data fields in the data file, and the data fields are structured in a set of data levels. The rule set is formed in such a manner that arbitrary data of the input data stream is mapped onto an arbitrary data field of the data file.
