It is indented to provide a system for rapidly detecting or identifying a causative microorganism of an infectious disease, particularly a causative microorganism of sepsis, and selecting an appropriate antimicrobial agent. The invention is directed to a method for rapidly detecting or identifying a causative microorganism by carrying out gene amplification such as a real time PCR and analyzing a combination of melting temperatures (Tm values) obtained by a melting curve analysis of the amplified gene products or a combination of differences between each Tm value. More specifically, the real time PCR is carried out using 1 to 7 primer sets for bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA, 1 to 6 primer sets for fungal 18S ribosomal RNA and one primer set for each of MRSA-specific spa gene and mecA gene, i.e., 4 to 16 primer sets in total and a causative microorganism of sepsis is identified by matching the combination of the Tm values of the amplified products or the combination of differences between each Tm value with a database. According to the method of the invention, a causative microorganism of an infectious disease, particularly a causative microorganism of sepsis, can be detected or identified rapidly, and a rapid diagnostic method for sepsis and an evidence-based medicine in the therapy for sepsis can be provided.
|
