PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measurement method and a distance measurement apparatus for simply calculating a distance between structures without a risk. SOLUTION: The distance measurement method of the invention utilizes a laser, measures the distance between the first and second structures linearly extended, and includes: a laser measurement step S101 for irradiating one point on the second structure and two points on the first structure with the laser, and receiving a reflection light of the laser; a coordinate calculation step S103 for calculating three-dimensional coordinates of one point and two points based on the irradiation direction of the laser and a round trip time from the irradiation of the laser to a reception of the reflection light; and a distance calculation step S105 for calculating the distance between the first and second structures based on the three-dimensional coordinates.
