PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for production of a tetrapod-shaped zinc oxide capable of adjusting the size of a produced tetrapod-shaped article made of zinc oxide. SOLUTION: The apparatus for production of the tetrapod-shaped article made of zinc oxide comprises a vertical type reaction furnace 1 capable of forming a nonoxidizing atmosphere region inside the reaction furnace, a crucible 6 for zinc vaporization arranged at the lower part of in the vertical type reaction furnace and having a vapor jet nozzle attached, an oxygen discharge tube 13 for an oxidation reaction arranged on top of the vertical type reaction furnace 1 in such a way as to be extended in the height direction of the vertical type reaction furnace and having discharging holes arranged for discharging an oxidizing gas within the vertical type reaction furnace in the surface of the oxygen discharge tube, and a gas supply apparatus 50 capable of adjusting the flow of oxidizing gas discharged within the vertical type reaction furnace 1 by the oxygen discharge tube 13 for the oxidation reaction.
