PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a life management device of a stepped tool in which the life of each blade provided in the stepped tool is properly managed, and thereby the cost and work required for replacement of the blade can be reduced.SOLUTION: A life management device 1 is provided for managing the life of a stepped tool 10 with two or more replaceable blades provided in a multi-step manner. The life management device has: a blade data memory unit 32 for storing a threshold value about the life of the blade, an evaluation value showing the use degree at the present time of the blade and a step distance from the blade of the tip for each of two or more blades; an accumulation machining counter value acquisition unit 45 for acquiring an accumulation machining counter value of a machine tool 5 before and after machining by the stepped tool 10; an evaluation value update unit 46 for updating the evaluation value of each blade based on the accumulation machining counter value, the evaluation value and the step distance; and an evaluation value determination unit 47 for determining whether or not the updated evaluation value reaches the threshold value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
