PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map-matching system of the vehicle position in a navigation device capable of reducing a processing frequency in map-matching of the vehicle position, and improving own-car position accuracy. SOLUTION: This navigation device has a storage device 30 for storing road data including data on the position and the width of the road, position detection means 10, 12 for detecting the vehicle position, and outputting position information showing the detected position, and a matching means for generating road surface data by utilizing the road data stored in the storage device 30, compares the road surface data with the position detected by the position information, and correcting the detected position into the road surface data when the detected position is not positioned in the road surface data.
