PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader in which not only the cost is reduced but also external leakage of unnecessary electromagnetic waves is prevented without attenuating an incident light. SOLUTION: A shield box 107 is arranged below a scanner frame 101 and an image sensor 106 is contained in the shield box 107. A lens 109 for introducing an optical signal read out from a document 100 is arranged on the wall face while being held by a lens frame 108. The lens 109 is coated with a transparent conductive material 110 on the incident side face of the optical signal read out from the document in order to enhance shield effect thus preventing a clock signal for driving the image sensor from leaking outward to cause radiation of unnecessary electromagnetic waves.
